I’ve just shimmied the site over to Mediatemple and rebuilt the site structure, it’s still very work in progress but I’m really excited about using wordpress as a cms.
The design has also been refreshed a little, I’ve only tested in safari and firefox, plus it’s not in ems just yet, I will look at it a bit later on, but I wanted to get this version out there as soon as I could.
Quick redesign, well less redesign and more, colour change and a new header graphic. It’s kinda based on a design I worked on for some friends of mine, which I never finished, one in a long list unfortunately!
Being Friday it’s also new comics day, and a bitching one at that (yes I said bitching…) Marvel Civil War was awesome, the fanboy in me loves the final battle, the artist loves what Steve McNiven is doing. Actually it’s a fantastic week for comic art, Frank Quitely, Tim Sale both have fantastic looking comics out this week.
Do I really need categories for this site, maybe a tagging system would make more sense?
So it took me a couple of days to gather my scattered brain as the flight/alergies combining leaving me feeling a bit off.
@Media in a word was wicked, in two, wondrously wicked. The stuff I learned there is really invaluable to my working life as a web designer and really has given me the kick in the arse I’ve been needing to really get stuff done.
A lotta people were blogging during the sessions, so you’ll probably find more info from those guys, I felt I should just talk about what I found the most important thing of the whole conference. The tone.
See I’ve been to these things before and most of the time, we’re talking about some guy, sitting at a laptop talking about how cool this stuff is and spouting off buzzwords. Here we had a more relaxed atmosphere, speakers who don’t take themselves too seriously and will say what’s on their minds. Personally I think this makes for a better experience.
Anyway, the whole thing has got me thinking about this site, so I’ve started work on a summer redesign, that I’m about 2/3 into. This time I’ll be bringing a greater focus onto doing web design and the projects I’m working on, as well as rolling my retrosuper sketchblog into this and giving my photography more consideration.
Ah direction, it smells so sweet!
