iPhoning

June 10 2008

So the new iPhone 3G with GPS is out, camera’s still the same which is a bit disappointing. But the new model is only £99 which is a vast improvement on the old price and kudos to Apple/O2 for an actual currency conversion of the American price ($199), normally that never happens here!

On my tariff, £35 a month, it’s an extra £99 for the new phone, on the £45 tariff the upgrade is free. Still I think I’d prefer a one off £99 payment rather than an extra £120 a year.

Pixelmator!

September 26 2007

pixelmator
Pixelmator is a very neat new graphics application for the mac, basically it’s a lot like Photoshop Elements but with a lighter price tag of $59.
What I really like about it is the slick Aperture-like ui and integration with .mac for backup and ilife with an iphoto panel, not to mention the inspired isight integration.

While at the moment it really isn’t a contender to the business pull that Adobe’s CS3 suite has, I do like the idea of using this for smaller projects where vector editing isn’t required. Grouped with ilife, textmate and coda, a web designer/developer can put together quite a powerful web production suite for less than the cost of a single component of the CS3 library.

Get a Mac UK

January 29 2007

get a mac
This is awesome, a series of British Get a Mac adverts with the brilliant Mitchell and Webb of Peepshow fame. Maybe it’s a local thing but I’m finding these far more humourous than the originals.

Buy Buy Buy - Nike+iPod

January 5 2007

Okay, so I know of the whole tracking issues, but I decided I wanted a new ipod nano to go with my new spiffy Nike+ trainers.

Nano is so cute and dinky, it’s going everywhere with me from now on, sound quality is great and the earphone have a nicer shape than my 2004 ones, which tended to hurt my ears if I wore them for too long.
It has photo viewing capabilities built in, but I don’t see me using that much with the screen so small. The games though, translate better to the small screen than I would have thought.

Nike+ trainers are so comfy, I’ve been wearing converse for so long I forgot how ace nike air feels on the feets. I’ll type up about the integration with the Nike+ module when it gets here, had to order it from the Apple store because apparently Nike have only approved a certain elite of retailers to stock the item, which is a bit wanky really.

Really need to give this site a spruce, something about the layout of the text doesn’t sit right with me…
