Comics/animation innovator Alex Toth passed away May 27th at his drawing table.
This is a great loss to the art community, Toth was one of the greats, his innovative style and narrative structure has influenced generations of artists.
He was truly an amazing artist and I emplore everyone to track down “The greatest Batman stories ever told” for his Batman issue which is the best single batman issue ever. Toth was also the designer for for the majority of the Hanna Barbera action heroes, like Space Ghost, Superfriends and Sealab.

Last Stand, till the next one

X-Men 3…I don’t know if I even want to go into this one. The whole film just felt like a series of clips, I couldn’t really put my finger on what was wrong, until I realised the problem is the film centred around wolverine and storm. Neither of them had character arcs in the film, really wolverine’s story ended in x2.
The other problem is the amount of characters in there, all vying for screen time. This seems to extend from the idiotic notion that this should be the last x-men film. A preferred route would have been to push the current players into the background and focus on the new ones, which it tried half way with Shadowcat and Iceman but it never really went all the way.
It’s not all bad Shadowcat and Colossus in action was fun. But really it’s not a great movie and the conclusion just left me indifferent.
Ramos is back

Okay, not only did I buy wolverine this month, which is weird enough, but I really enjoyed it…
The reason being Humberto Ramos the new artist on the title, he’s really stepped his game up this issue. For a while he had a very loose style that was a bit too abstract for my liking.
In Wolverine 42 he uses the darker, inkier style he employed on Crimson and some of the impulse issues he did (I still love his early impulse work the most).
The story aint to shabby neither, dealing with Logan going after Nitro, the guy who’s caused the nuke in Stamford that has sparked the marvel civil war that the New Warriors are being held accountable for.
