Remind me why I didn’t go…

May 25 2005

Back in the late 90s/early 00s (think we call em the noughties) I used to attend the Bristol Comics festivals. Now while some fun as a kid they were really badly organised, lot of guests didn’t attend and as the awards show was on the saturday, people tended to be a no show on the saturday.

Mind, there were a few awesome moments, the DC/Wildstorm panels, often the same editors/writers/artists, were fun and at times hilarious and the Com.X launch (the first one) was great, think I read their issue zero book a thousand times.

So around 2002 I was doing exams and decided not to bother going. From then on I haven’t attended which wasn’t a bad thing, as from what I’ve heard 03+04 were pretty pish.

But now after reading about the 05 one in on the Basement Tapes and via Neil “Bazooka Jules”/ “Mr Majestic” Googe I wish I had lifted my self imposed ban.

Seems the spirit of the new style cons is a down and dirty comic book event, no movies, no video games, no marvel, no dc.

Just people talking shop with their fellow comics-faithful. Which I must say is something I really do long for, there really isn’t any comic scene in Edinburgh, which does get me down.

So it’s on the cards for me to go next year and hopefully I’ll have started this comic that’s been mulling in my mind for the past few months.

Gorillaz Demon Days

May 24 2005

Just got Demon Days, so far I think DARE is my favourite track, fantastic piece of pop and any track with Shaun Ryder on vocals is always a treat.

Only thing annoying me is that Safari isn’t supported on the secret website section just yet. Though it looks like internet explorer works with it, too bad that browser is bloody slow.
