Rapidly becoming a weekly poster.

March 20 2005

Work’s been pretty busy for me lately, plus our net connection is more restricted, so I can’t post from work, oh well.

A friend of mine is doing a short fake advertisement for noodles, it involves a mostly naked girl and buckets of noodles. So we were out shopping for some necessary items, in this case a small thong and tit tape to keep it on the girl (to which I pointed that we shouldn’t buy both in the same store, don’t need people thinking Bufallo Bill) dunno how much he’s spending on noodles, but I think he gagged a few times during the testing of different brands.

In the afternoon I incurred two different shitty sports-like ‘injuries’ managed to friction burn the top of my right thumb about 7 times while playing pool, then I fucked up my wrist on the left while bowling.
Now both of these were probably because I had no bloody clue what I was doing in playing either, in my defense I haven’t bowled in 8 years and I’m just plain shite at pool.

Finally went to see Constantine, which was way better than I expected, Keanu was good in the movie version of the role, while pretty far away from the comic, the heart was still there in places. It got a little too James Bond with the gadgets, but then again film audiences love that. The humor was nice and cynical and the set pieces run down and well varied for the eye.

I’m gonna need a drink

March 12 2005

Just about on the verge of going loopy, which is what I get for staying in the house all day.

Caught comic relief on the beeb yesterday it was pretty well done and quite funny, especially the Spider-Plant-Man skit with Rowan Atkinson and the return of the other famous ginger, Chris Evans. It’s always good to see them top the total from last year too.

In the theme of being able to stay alive past 30, I’ve been attempting to eat healthier and will be contacting a personal trainer this week to finally kill this gut of mine.
As for work and such, I’m finally committing my ideas to scripts, which are turning out nicely, the things I forget from time to time in scripting comics is that it’s far too easy to run dialogue for a good while before you realise this could have been 5 panels and that I should really make 6 panels my hard limit per page. Drawing wise, I’ve got a couple of new ones after the cut.

Programs what are nice.

March 5 2005

Grabbed a couple of nice wee programs for the imac, first off is Synergy which adds a little control to the apple menu bar for itune, really handy tool.

Second up is Adium, a multi chat app, allows you to connect to aim, msn, yahoo, etc. There’s tons of programs like this about, but this one is the only one that could pry me away from ichat, the interface is fantastic and fully skinnable, it also allows tabbed chat windows. A better blogger would put up a few screen caps, but I’m pretty lazy.

Also it seems my local comics shop has a blog now, cool.

Slurpees and comics

March 3 2005

(from Newsarama)
So this may be the best idea to come out of Marvel’s nostalgia kick yet, the return of comics to connivence stores, specifically 7-11.

This is something I’m a big advocate of, I honestly have no clue why this ended originally, probably for financial reasons. The way I see it, kids start buying comics when their parents are picking up groceries and then they can go seek out a comic specialty store for more diverse material.

Basically it’s awesome.
