Breaking from the Grind

September 22 2004

Books from FP online still haven’t arrived, I’m putting it down to the bank holiday on monday putting things on the fritz. Just read that the New Warriors are on their way back at marvel. With Scottie Young drawing and a reality tv premise. Oh well. Maybe I’ll buy it for the sake of Nova and the gang being there. Still with marvel, I’m kinda let down that the only pictures of the fantastic four costumes are lo-res scans that are circulating the net. The suits aren’t bad, the “4″ needs to be in the centre and maybe Chris Evans could have bought a bottle of bleach. Back to the fun and games.

All and all it was a pleasent weekend

September 21 2004

Well, I’m slightly pissed that I missed out on Star Wars yesterday. Due to it being an edinburgh holiday no mail was delivered, thus the people who pre ordered the box set at HMV/Virgin got their copies before my amazon pre ordering ass. Plus I’m waiting for those comics.

Saw Collateral at the UGC was really surprised at how good Tom Cruise was in that.
I also enjoyed the way they strayed from being a typical Cruise movie, in that it was shot on video, which gave it that grainy and documentary feel, the short joke, and finally (highlight text for spoiler)having Cruise’s face shot and bloody near the end.

Also watched Labyrinth again, I love Brian Froud’s goblins and monster designs. The “making of” on the dvd was brilliant. the creative process of how they built the puppets is facinating, the complexity of building these creatures and the level of creativity is wonderful. It really makes me wish CGI wasn’t as common place as it is now.
